Who We Are

  • Behavior logoSWWC’s team of behavior analysts/specialists is committed to helping school professionals address challenging behaviors, boost academic performance, and develop effective classroom management strategies for students of all ages. This dedicated team includes 10 staff members who support districts and 8 who work directly with our educational learning centers.

What We Do

  • SWWC’s behavior analysts/specialists work closely with school teams to develop positive, tailored interventions aimed at reducing challenging behaviors and building adaptive, replacement skills. Our services are designed to address a wide range of needs, often supporting students with diagnoses such as Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, and Emotional/Behavioral Disorders. Common behaviors we address include noncompliance/work refusal, property destruction, aggression, self-injury, and more.

  • By partnering with school personnel, our team ensures a consistent and comprehensive approach, with the goal of creating lasting positive change for students and classrooms alike. Behavioral services through SWWC can be customized to meet the specific needs of each school. For more information on how we can support your school, reach out to our team today!

READY to Shine

  • READY to Shine
This April, in honor of World Autism Month, The READY Clinic is launching the "READY to Shine" campaign, focusing on "Shining a Light on Early Intervention". Our goal is not only to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and intervention for autism, but also to gather vital funds to support our work with students on the spectrum.

Here’s how SWWC staff can get involved this April:
    1. Spread the Word: Share the "READY to Shine" campaign and its importance on your social media platforms. Watch the SWWC home page and social media pages this month to share information about the early signs of autism.
    2. Be an Advocate: Educate yourself and your network about The READY Clinic and about autism. Learn the importance of early intervention using the campaign materials.
    3. Get Connected: Email readyintake@swwc.org this month and receive a personalized message about how the work that you do for SWWC is directly or indirectly connected to our local ASD community. Whether you support technology or due process, chances are your service to others benefits someone with ASD in one of our programs.
    4. Donate: Consider making a personal contribution to the "READY to Shine" campaign through the SWWC Foundation to directly support autism services and programs.

School Nursing Services

  • SWWC’s Nursing Department is proud to deliver high-quality, student-focused nursing services that enhance health and safety across our region’s schools.

We currently provide Contracted Licensed School Nurse (LSN) services to six school districts, ensuring expert care and compliance with state health regulations. Beyond these contracted services, we offer regional support to all school districts, including general consultation, Communities of Practice, and professional development opportunities to strengthen nursing staff across the board.

Our Educational Learning Center (ELC) Health Office is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals—1 LSN, 4 Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and 2 Health Paraprofessionals—who provide daily care and support to students with a wide range of health needs.

To further expand support, we’ve launched a new School Health Student Support position focused on improving service access, increasing utilization, and maintaining strong compliance across school health programs.

At SWWC, we’re committed to creating healthier learning environments so all students can thrive.

MDH Professional Nurses Survey

  • Thank you to Morgan Litzau for her work in raising awareness about the school nurse shortage in Minnesota. Morgan has been working on supporting school nurses in our region through a grant from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).

A recent study by MDH highlighted the school nursing shortage, with a special emphasis on the shortage in rural schools. Most of the schools in our region would fit the definition of a small, rural school. Morgan has been working on supporting our member schools and was recently interviewed by KSTP television. You can watch the video below. If you have a subscription to the Star Tribune, click to read their school nursing shortage article, which also stars our very own Morgan Litzau! Thank you, Morgan, for your work in support of our schools and for representing SWWC so well in this interview! GREAT people doing GREAT things!
