What is EIDBI?

The Early Intensive Developmental and Behavioral Intervention (EIDBI) benefit provides treatment for people with ASD and related conditions. Treatment is based on proven methods, and the values, culture and preferences of the person and family. Funding EIDBI Services

Children diagnosed with autism or related disorder may have treatment coverage within their private insurance policy. Policy owners should contact their provider to confirm the coverage for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy.

Additional funding for treatment is also available through the state of Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). Click this link to print a paper application or to apply online for a Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) and Medical Assistance (MA).

For children whose family’s income is too high for MA or other MHCP programs, DHS offers medical coverage under the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act (TEFRA). The TEFRA option allows Medical Assistance (MA) eligibility for children with disabilities whose parents have too much income to qualify for MA or other Minnesota Health Care Programs or who qualify but the cost would be too high.

Minnesota Autism Resource Portal

Autism Society of Minnesota (AUSM) is a non-profit organization that is committed to bringing Minnesota Autism communities together.

The organization serves all ages, all levels of abilities and works to inspire more good days.

Access to resources, support groups, mental health therapy and skillshops is available to individuals, families and employers.

Membership through AUSM is also available and includes discounted rates to skillshops, conferences, summer camps and more.

The Autism Recovery Foundation currently offers programs in three areas:

Minnesota Northland Association for Behavior Analysis (MNABA) is a resource for those seeking ABA services.

Expectations that one can expect from their behavior analyst is outlined in their Standards of Practice for Applied Behavior Analysis in Minnesota.

MNABA helps families connect with community resources and how to become informed.

The PACER Center is available to assist families with decision making, in regards to education and other services that are available to their disabled children and young adults.

They provide support that can range from assistive technology, navigating through the educational system, preventing bullying, informative workshops and offer 30 plus programs.

Most of their services that are available are free of charge.

Their online learning center offers resources on various topics that range from special education information, disputing resolution, healthcare, insurance & waivers, early childhood and more.

The Arc of Minnesota provides support to individuals and their families with disabilities.

Services through The Arc include assistance through the “Ask an Advocate” program, training events that are held throughout the Minnesota regions, resources to guide individuals and families though the special education process, along with a statewide public policy platform.

The Arc online learning center offers guides on various topics that range from government benefits, healthcare, self advocacy and more.
